Sermon Title: The Gospel brings People together
Scripture Text: Philemon 1 – 7
Introduction
Philemon’s Main Message – Paul’s appeal to Philemon to forgive and embrace the runaway slave named Onesimus as a brother.
Explanation
1) Paul teaches us to have a spiritual habit of giving thanks to God for our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ.
2) Philemon teaches us that faith in Jesus and the act of love for all people regardless of who they are belongs together.
3) Paul teaches us that God has placed us within community (Koinonia). We are to called to actively and mutually participate in the life of life of our Koinonia.
Final Word
As being part of God’s community, Philemon is challenged to forgive and embrace Onesimus (Verses 8 – 25)
Reflection Question
1) How can we make it a spiritual habit in giving thanks to God for our fellow brothers and sisters.
2) How can we grow in our love for each other within the community that God has placed us?
3) How can we actively and mutually participate in the life of our CG?
