Sunday, (Feb 22) – Many families will be returning from their home towns after the Chinese New Year holidays. Pray for journey mercies – that the drivers will follow all traffic laws and drive with courtesy and patience. Pray for the children, that they will recover from all fun and feasting of the Chinese New Year holidays, and prepare to study diligently when school begins. Pray that the Lord continue to bless relationships within the family – that husbands will love their wives, wives will respect and submit to their husbands, children will obey their parents, and parents will love and discipline their children.
Monday, (Feb 23) – Pray that we will observe this season of Lent by taking time for meditation and reflection. Pray that we will repent of our self-reliant and self-seeking ways, and replace these with a constant dependence on God and His grace. Pray that we will come before the Lord, acknowledging our sinfulness and ask pardon for all our failures and shortcomings. Pray that we will approach Lent not with trepidation and fear, but with joy as we rejoice in the grace of God who desires not the death of the sinner, but his or her redemption.
Tuesday, (Feb 24) – Pray for the Nation: Pray that politicians will not play the race and religious card to gain popularity, and thus jeopardise racial harmony in the nation. Pray against race-based and religion-based politics in the country. Pray that those who continue to play up racial and religious issues unashamedly will be held accountable for their words and actions. Pray that God will raise up level-headed patriotic Malaysians from all strata of society, irrespective of race and religion, to stand together and work towards genuine reconciliation, racial and religious harmony.
Wednesday, (Feb 25) – Pray that as children of God, we will desire to live lives worthy of our calling. Pray that we will choose to turn from being carnal Christians and grow to be spiritual Christians, and learn to cooperate with the Holy Spirit to come under the lordship of Christ in all areas of our lives – in our attitudes, thoughts, speech and actions. Pray that as we grow in our spiritual maturity, we will be people of influence in our homes, our workplace and our community
Thursday, (Feb 26) – Pray for God’s protection upon the Church Staff, that they will enjoy good health and work well together as a team. Pray that the Lord will grant them wisdom in their work, so that the running of the church and the various ministries will progress smoothly. Pray for good relationship between the church staff and the church members. Pray for our church cleaner, Piramila, for good health and strength, and that God will be with her as she performs her tasks each day. As pastor is away, pray that everything will run smoonthly.
Friday, (Feb 27) – Pray for the TRAC: There are several Chinese congregations with TRAC churches. Some of these have specially targeted the Chinese New Year season to reach out to the non-Christian community and families by having projects and organising events. Pray that the love of Jesus Christ will shine into the lives of all non-Christians through these events.
Saturday, (Feb 28) – Pray for the World: There are a few Christians in Sri Lanka’s political landscape who, though difficult, try their best to model Christ in their decisions. But because the majority of the population is Buddhist, their decisions can be swayed in favour of the popular vote. Pray for the Christian politicians to continue to fight for biblical ideals that are beneficial, not only to Christians, but the entire nation. Pray also for an end to the conflict between Protestants and Catholics. In come Catholic schools, the children of Protestant parents were declined admission. Pray that God will His people together in unity.
