Sermon Title: Blessedness through faith in Christ Jesus
Scripture Text: Romans 5: 1 – 11
Introduction
Bridge connects places that were separated. It also reconnects people from both sides. Our Spiritual lives needed a bridge.
1. Peace with God (vv1-2a).
While we were still sinners, Christ died for us (v8).
God who is Holy, took an initiative to reach out to sinners like us to atone for our sins with the precious blood of our Lord Jesus. As we believe in Him, we are made right with God, and we have peace with Him. We are totally forgiven and accepted by God as His children, as we put our faith in Jesus, and enjoy the permanent relationship with God.
2. Hope in God (vv2b-4).
We boast in the hope of the glory of God (v2b).
We boast in what God has done for us and is doing in our lives. God has given us hope that we will grow to be more like Him and we will also share in Jesus’ resurrection glory.
We also glory in our sufferings (v3).
We also boast in sufferings, because God is able to bring good even out of afflictions, therefore we can take pride in what God is able to accomplish for us. Ref. Romans 4:18-24
3. Love of God (vv5-8).
The hope in God does not and will not result in our shame, because of the love of God. His overflowing love was demonstrated so clearly on the Cross. His love also assures that He will save us from wrath in the final judgement (vv9-10).
Conclusion (v11).
This blessedness shall impact the way we live both now and in the future – that is to rejoice in confidence and praise the Lord Jesus.
