Sermon Title: Jesus, the Gentle King
Scripture Text: Matthew 21: 1 – 11
Introduction
Jesus is very much unlike an earthly king.
Explanation
- Jesus comes as a gentle King riding on a donkey. Jesus’ choice of transportation mode fulfils the prophecy and hence prove that He is indeed the Messiah.
- Jesus intentionally makes his way into Jerusalem knowing full well what lies ahead of him. He goes into Jerusalem knowing that he will be betrayed, condemned, mocked, flogged, crucified and ultimately be raised!
- The crowd welcomes Jesus exuberantly only to turn their back on Jesus much later. We must guard ourselves against superficial acclaim for Jesus.
Final Word
Jesus intentionally comes into Jerusalem riding on a donkey in order to fulfil the prophecy.

- Is your faith in Jesus fervent? How can you be passionate and zealous with regards to your faith?
- How would you guard yourself against being casual and laidback in your commitment to Jesus?
- Were you ever in a situation whereby you needed to exercise your trust muscle? How did the Lord help you?
